Edward's was the first salon in Marin County to be offering this new exciting service! The secrets for this technique may come from Asia, where straight, smooth, shiny hair is considered to be the ultimate in beauty - but this style is taking America by storm! Edward went to New York in April of 2002 to attend a special training session in order to become an expert in this new service, and has been busy training others how to use this great new technique. If you have ever wished that you had silky, smooth, straight, wash-and-go hair, now is your chance!
I have colored hair, can I get this service?
Typically colored hair works great as long as it is not too damaged. Bleach and straightening however don't do well together.
How long does it last?
That depends on how close to your scalp your curl starts. Typically 5 to 7 months.
How much does it cost?
$700 is common. Depending on hair length and who performs the service.
How long does it take?
4 to 6 hours depending on length and how resistant your hair is.
Do you use Yuko?
NO, We use Liscio. They process using the same methods, you must go to New York to learn Liscio where as Yuko is out of Los Angeles. After much research we found Liscio to have more options is processing strength.
Does it get rid of Frizz?
YES! This is a huge feature.
Can I color my hair after?
Yes, you must wait one week.
Why would the Japanese create a straightening process?
Don't they have straight hair?
Good question and seems to me they do.
Can I speak to you about this before I book an appointment?
Absolutely! In fact typically we must see you first, we perform the straightening process on a few strands of your hair and find out for sure how well your hair will do!

Kristen is our resident specialist and she can make your hair look amazing. Every time she does one we all look in amazement. Price varies greatly depending on hair length. but consultations are free so make an appointment and find out what is possible for you.
Does my hair have to be a certain length?
Yes, it needs to be at least four and a half inches from roots to end.
Do you use real hair?
Yes, we exclusively use hand-graded hair. This hair is full of natural beauty, elasticity and color brilliance.
Do I treat my hair differently after extensions?
Not really, you can swim with it, shampoo it, brush it, flat iron it, use a curling iron. And as with your own hair you need to use great products if you want it to look good the whole time you have them in.
Can I use my normal shampoo and conditioner?
This depends on which company has the best hair for you. One of the companies we use has a unique bonding system and you must use their shampoo and conditioners or you would break down the bonds. We will make sure you get the very best products to protect your investment.
How long do the extension last?
We usually take them out around 5 months.
Can you still color or hi-light your hair?
Yes you can. And the extensions come in dozens of colors so matching your own or adding hi-lights and low-lights is totally attainable.
What are the benefits of extensions?
There are several benefits. You can make your hair longer and thicker in one day instead of waiting 2 years. You can add some funk with some wild colors that are not permanent...great to be able to change your look without damaging your own hair.
