japanese technique thermal straightening
Edward's Salon was the first in Marin County to be offering this new, exciting service! If you have ever wished that you had silky-smooth, straight wash-and-go hair, now is your chance!
I have color-treated hair. Can I get this service?
Typically, color-treated hair works well as long as it is not too damaged. If bleach was used, you are not eligible.
How long does it last?
That depends on how close to your scalp your curl starts. Typically 5 to 7 months.
How much does it cost?
$700 is common. Depending on hair length and who performs the service.
How long does it take?
4 to 6 hours depending on length and how resistant your hair is.
Do you use Yuko?
NO, We use Liscio. They process using the same methods, you must go to New York to learn Liscio where as Yuko is out of Los Angeles. After much research, we found Liscio to have more options in processing strength.
Does it get rid of Frizz?
YES! This is a huge feature.
Can I color my hair after?
Yes, you must wait one week.
Why would the Japanese create a straightening process?
Don't they have straight hair?
Good question and seems to me they do.
Can I consult with you before I book an appointment?
Absolutely! In fact we must see you first because we recommend testing the straightening process on a few hair strands to find out how well your hair will do.
hair extensions
Kristen, Emily and Linsey are our resident specialists. Prices vary depending on hair length so please book a consultation to find out what is best for your needs.
Does my hair have to be a certain length?
Yes. It needs to be at least 4.5 inches long from root to end.
Do you use real hair?
Yes, we exclusively use hand-graded hair. This hair is full of natural beauty, elasticity and color brilliance.
Do I treat my hair differently after extensions?
Not really, you can swim with it, shampoo it, brush it, flat iron it, use a curling iron. And as with your own hair you need to use great products if you want it to look good the whole time you have them in.
Can I use my normal shampoo and conditioner?
This depends on which company has the best hair for you. One of the companies we use has a unique bonding system and you must use their shampoo and conditioners or you would break down the bonds. We will make sure you get the very best products to protect your investment.
How long do the extension last?
We usually take them out around 5 months.
Can I still color or highlight my hair?
Yes. The extensions also come in dozens of colors so matching your own or adding highlights or lowlights is totally attainable.
What are the benefits of extensions?
There are several benefits:
You can make your hair longer and thicker instantly rather than waiting 2 years
You can add funky colors without bleaching and toning your hair
For your wedding day, having the extra length and thickness can help create beautiful up-do's
